On September 27, 2024, a delegation from the Hong Kong Shipowners' Association visited Huayang Maritime Centre Co., Ltd. for a friendly visit, aiming to deepen the cooperation between the two sides in the fields of shipping and maritime affairs. Vice President Zhu Jianhua of the China Waterborne Transport Research Institute and General Manager Li Liqian of Huayang jointly participated in the reception, with General Manager Li Liqian presiding over the meeting.
Director Zhu pointed out in his speech that Hong Kong's shipping industry has a long history of development and has played an important and positive role in the country's reform, opening up, and modernization construction. Huayang has established a close and effective cooperative relationship with the Hong Kong shipping industry, working together in areas such as ship operation, ship management, seafarer dispatch and training, and shipping technology innovation, achieving resource sharing and mutual benefit, and jointly promoting the sustainable development of the shipping industry. As the supervisory department of Huayang, China Waterborne Transport Research Institute is pleased to see the positive interaction between Huayang and the Hong Kong shipping industry, and sincerely hopes and will continue to support Huayang to carry out more extensive, in-depth, and pragmatic cooperation with the Hong Kong Shipowners' Association and the Hong Kong shipping industry.
Captain Lin Mingfeng, Chairman of Hong Kong Minghua Shipping Co., Ltd., delivered a speech on behalf of the Hong Kong Shipowners Association delegation. He said that just as the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee reaffirmed the status of Hong Kong as an international shipping center, together with the opportunities brought to Hong Kong by the "the Belt and Road" initiative, the "Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area" and other strategic deployment, the Hong Kong Shipowners' Association would actively promote the development of the shipping industry, give full play to its unique advantages in integrating Hong Kong into the national development situation, and actively contribute to the national development process. At the same time, Captain Lin mentioned that Huayang has obvious advantages in shipping technology innovation and shipping talent training. He looks forward to both sides continuously strengthening technical exchanges and experience sharing, jointly promoting shipping innovation and green development, and hoping to achieve integration and upgrading in future cooperation, injecting new impetus into the economic development of the two places.
At the meeting, both sides reviewed their close and friendly cooperation in recent years and had in-depth exchanges and discussions on future cooperation directions. The main topics revolved around the positioning of "international financial, shipping, and trade center", as well as the promotion of high-end maritime services and crew management and training in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area. A high degree of unity was reached during the exchange and discussion.
The visit of the Hong Kong Shipowners' Association delegation has laid a solid foundation for further mutual understanding and deepening cooperation between the two sides. Looking ahead to the future, both parties look forward to continuously communicating and cooperating to jointly address the challenges of the maritime industry and achieve sustainable development goals. I hope that in the future, both sides can work hand in hand to create a more brilliant tomorrow.
