Schulte Group CEO Visits BSM-HMC to Explore New Paths for International Development of Shipping Talents

On July 11, 2025, Mr. Ian Beveridge, CEO of Schulte Group, and his delegation visited BSM-HMC Maritime Service (Hainan) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as BSM-HMC) for an in-depth review of regional business development and talent cultivation initiatives. Mr. Shen Shilei, General Manager of BSM-HMC led the management team to make a special report.

During the meeting, General Manager Shen Shilei systematically introduced BSM-HMC’s three core business segments: BSM-related crew business, coastguard vessels management and crewing, and maritime coordinator dispatch services. In addition, he elaborated on the policy advantages of the Hainan Free Trade Port, including “zero tariffs, low tax rates, simplified tax system”, preferential policies for international ship registration, and bonded fuel benefits.

During the talks, the two sides had in-depth exchanges on issues such as the international shipping talents, particularly regarding Chinese cadets’ English listening and speaking skill. Captain Fang Chengqi, General Manager of Crew Service Center of Schulte Group (China), pointed out that BSM-HMC will continue to collaborate with major domestic maritime universities to recruit graduates with solid professional knowledge and English skills. Through Huayang’s  pre-employment English training subsequently, we ensure that cadets are fully equipped for excellent English communication skills when they join  the fleet of BSM.

This visit from Schulte Group marks a new phase of strategic collaboration between the two parties in Chinese seafarers training, ship management, matitime resource integration, and innovative development. In the future, relying on the policies and regional advantages of Hainan Free Trade Port, BSM-HMC will strengthen university-enterprise co-cultivation mechanism, continuously provide momentum for talent supply, and accelerate its role as a vital bridge connecting Chinese shipping talents with the global market.
